Research Interests:
My scholarship is focused on various aspects of stream and river channel processes through the collection and analysis of field data, the simulation of channel dynamics with mathematical models and with scaled physical models in the laboratory.  Investigating the hydraulics of water and sediment in rivers and streams is critical to the understanding of the interaction between natural and human (or built) environments so that the quality of both can be enhanced or protected through informed water resources and environmental management practices.  I am fascinated by the interdisciplinary nature of my work, and I have had the opportunity to work with experts in geology, geochemistry, ecology, hydrology, and statistics on past and current projects.

I believe that the interdisciplinary nature and the field work component make my research interesting and accessible for undergraduate and master's level student involvement.
